Funded, produced and supervised by Fundación Azcona, in collaboration with the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía in Madrid, it includes documentation by María Luisa Martín de Argila. This is the first comprehensive and meticulously published study on Martín Chirino (Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, 1925). All the sculptures by the artist from the Canary Islands are gathered together here, in addition to a list of his individual exhibitions, a bibliography, exhibition catalogues and an index of his works.

Chirino worked actively throughout the entire documentation and editorial process, supervising every little detail and offering ideas to the whole team involved. It contains texts by the prestigious art critics, Pierre Daix and Dore Asthon; 542 unique pieces catalogued and reproduced, plus 7 multiple sculptures created between 1952 and 2006.

Martín Chirino (Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, 1925-Madrid 2019) is one of the key figures in contemporary Spanish art history. He was a founder of Grupo El Paso, and his extensive production is included in the most important museums and collections in the world. Chirino remains an indefatigable creator, continuing with his research and making new sculptures, and therefore the Foundation will publish a second volume in the future containing all his new works.
