Jointly edited by the Fundación de Arte y Pensamiento Martín Chirino and the Azcona Foundation, this third volume of the Encyclopaedia of the Canarian artista ‘Tribute to music. The sonority of matter’, has been written by David Cortés Santamarta, professor of Aesthetics and Theory of Art at the Universidad de La Laguna School of Fine Arts. The book The books is telling of the sculptor’s sharpened sensitivity for music, but also of his special interest in a field to which he devoted a set of works from 1995 to 2019. Consisting of eight pieces, plus a ninth that was never finished, the series arises “from speculations about analogies between art and music, which, in turn, stem from the creation of a kind of genealogy of the relationships that these disciplines have had throughout modernity.”
